Wii Fit - Excercise… Fun… ?!?
July 11, 2007
Wii Sports meets Brain Age with a spin towards fitness. A few years ago, could anyone have predicted this would be Nintendo’s big announcement for E3 2007? OK, if yes, would you have predicted people would be excited about it, and that it looks like it will be an instant success? Yeah, me either.
Frankly, this looks fun. The fact that it will help keep me (and my family) fit is an unbelievably huge bonus for me. Truthfully, that could be enough to keep me playing a game for more than a couple weeks. I could actually see this extending into my normal daily life for a significant period of time.
From the Nintendo press release:
The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board (name not final), which comes packed with Wii Fit. The board is used for an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games. Many of these activities focus towards providing a “core” workout, a popular exercise method that emphasizes slower, controlled motions. Family members will have fun staying active and talking about and comparing their results and progress on a new channel on the Wii Menu.

Got something to say?

This looks sweet! I’m in.
Do we have a release date on this and price???? I want it. :)
Oh, sure.
The white people are doing some serious exercise and meditation, to improve their physical and mental health.
The black people get a hula hoop. Nintendo is racist!
Seriously - it’s nice to think that I could finally do an exercise routine while being rendered as a 23 year old female with large breasts. Sweet!
I also like how this video implies you shouldn’t wear shoes while using the device. Nothing says fun like sharing athlete’s foot!
Mmmm, sports, food and mental challenges, sounds like a good weekend to me! What kind of meats? Lunch meats or the harder stuff?
But seriously, this does look very cool. I wonder if the balance board is actually sensing anything other than pressure.
THIS LOOKS VERY FUN AND INTERESTING.I WANT ONE.WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE SO I CAN GET ONE.
