Displaying My Photos

One of the largest driving forces for me to create my blog originally was to have a web based gallery to manage and share my pictures with family and friends. Originally, I thought Gallery was the right solution for me. I used it for awhile, but, in the end it felt a bit clunky.
Eventually I played around with Flickr under repeated advice from Casey. It became immediately clear that this interface was much friendlier. I started using it and converted a lot of my old Gallery images. The more I used Flickr the more it became clear how much it rocks.
One problem… I really wanted to be able to present my galleries inside the look and feel of my website. This slowed down my conversion. I was caught now with two ways to manage images, each with great benefits, each with their own chunk of my images.
The solution is using FAlbum by Random Byte. Now I can have the best of both worlds. So click on my new “Photo” tab, and say goodbye to Gallery.

Merged Photographs

I came across a great gallery titled “50 people see…” by brevity on the Flickr explore page.
The artist was not surprisingly influenced by Jason Salvon. I discovered his amazing Every Playboy Centerfold image about a month ago. It’s part of a larger series.
As a sidenote, I was exploring on Flickr in search of the Andy Rosen - “London Punks 1976 -1984″ gallery which was featured on Rocketboom. Another set of stunning images that are a must see. Which in turn led me to find a set of breathtaking black and whites of New York City in Hughes 500’s greyscale & Cutouts gallery.

When PJ finally made it home from Iraq after a year away, his friends and family threw him a big party. See the gallery of that night here. At this point this is sort of old news, but I just got around to getting the gallery posted.

New Look

I finally got around to changing up my site. I was never happy with the old look, and in turn this discouraged me from blogging things. Now, I have a look I’m happy with (isn’t the rhino great!) so I can actually start using this. Additionally, my friends at spiralbound.net and maisonbisson.com have both done redesigns and are excited about their blogs so I might as well ride the bandwagon.
Those who care about the tech side of things, I have switched to WordPress and Gallery 2. Plus, I’m trying out using ecto for my posts. We’ll see how it goes…
