DotA Music Video by Basshunter
June 28, 2007 | 1 Comment
I’m not sure what’s more shocking about this video to me. Is it the idea that in Sweden a techno song about could be written about DotA? That the song could go to number 6 on the Swedish music charts? Or that after a night of DotA one would go out clubbing with a large group of super-model hot women all over them? Madness.
Check out some of these lyrics:
We’re sitting here in Ventrilo
playing some DotA.
We push on and we’re owning,
with the opposition we’re toying.
Running around creeping
the opponents we’re sleeping.
This Basshunter guy kinda scares me.

Warcraft 3 No CD Hack
September 5, 2006 | 188 Comments
If you are anything like me, you bought Warcraft 3 many years ago and are completely fed up with having to have the CDs with you when you want to play, where you want to play. A group of friends and I play DotA every Thursday night, each of us has purchased at least one copy of the game, but we are lucky if more than one person remembers to bring their CDs. We then spend a great deal of time passing around a CD to (re)spawn games. I will suffer with this no more!
ElliotBack.com provides instructions and the hack download on his site. It appears he has been keeping up with patch versions, currently we are at 1.20e. This is an easy install and a must do for anyone playing Warcraft regularly. It works perfectly with both the original game and The Frozen Throne. There are no known problems running this on Battle.Net.
Update: On the 13th Blizzard fixed some things on BNet to prevent some some crappy script hacks. As a (intentional?) side effect the no cd crack was busted. However the brilliant Vadoff came up with a new solution. The hack is a bit more complicated and the site that hosts the download is crappy. Anyway, here’s the new one. Be sure to read the readme file.

Defense of the Ancients (DotA) Allstars Items and Recipes
July 23, 2006 | 130 Comments
Defense of the Ancients (DotA) Allstars is a Warcraft III mod that is insanely popular and equally fun. Currently this happens to be the only online game I play. DotA Allstars, or just DotA, is a mod so popular and well put together that Blizzard has recognized it and even hosted tournaments at BlizzCon!
One of the key things to being successful at playing DotA is constructing the right items in the right situations. In game there isn’t a ton of time to spend agonizing over what to build.
Luckily, there are a ton of great items lists you can check out or print and use during the game. This should help you to come up with the best possible builds in all kinds of situations.
The most interesting guides I’ve seen are these two images from “thenonhacker”:
DotA Allstars 6.35 Item Table and DotA Allstars 6.35 Item Chart. These are the images I have thumbnails of on the left. The item chart shows visually what items lead to what other items. The item table categorizes each item and shows in chart form exactly what benefits each will provide.
On the official DotA site there are three must see pages:
An interactive one page listing of all the items by shop.
A basic item list for printing.
A recipe item list which can be printed in either HTML or PDF.
Note these links and this information was updated as of DotA version 6.34/6.35b
