X-Men Origins: Wolverine Footage Debuts
July 24, 2008 | 1 Comment

At San Diego Comic Con today a brief trailer-like set of clips from the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie debuted. The movie will premier in theaters May 1, 2009.
Sadly, I’m not at Comic Con, and as of now there is no linked cell phone footage. The best I can do is share some of the characters and castings that have been confirmed and/or shown:
- Hugh Jackman is of course reprising his role as Logan/Wolverine.
- Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed/Sabretooth (replacing Tyler Mane)
- A younger Major William Stryker will be played by Danny Huston.
- Taylor Kitsch as Remy LeBeau/Gambit
- Lynn Collins as Kayla Silverfox
- Kevin Durand as Frederick J. Dukes/The Blob
- Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool
- Daniel Henney as David North/Agent Zero
- Dominic Monaghan as Barnell Bohusk/Blackwing/Beak
- IESB is claiming they saw Emma Frost in the footage too
Other than all these characters making brief appearances in the film, not much is known yet. Hopefully a general public trailer will be revealed in the next couple months. Filming has completed.

Incredible Hulk Trailer
April 30, 2008 | 1 Comment

A new trailer came out for the Incredible Hulk movie today. When they first cast Ed Norton as Bruce Banner, I was intrigued by this movie. Frankly I’m not a big Hulk fan, but Norton brings some serious acting chops to the character. The first trailer looked good, but didn’t reveal much about the storyline.
This trailer comes in and shows a well established plot with love, conflict, and characterization. Hulk/Banner seems to be getting a more robust story line with motivations you can relate to. This raises my interest from curious to full excitement.

Iron Man Song Origins
April 7, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Joshua Glen e Boston Globe, wrote a fascinating piece called We Are Iron Man which does an in depth look into the origin of Black Sabbath’s classic rock son “Iron Man”. Was it inspired by the comic? Or are there other potentials? We’ll never know for certain, but the analysis here is interesting and fun.

A New Captain America
October 12, 2007 | 2 Comments
Captain America may have been gunned down at the end of Marvel’s Civil War killing Steve Rogers, but the ideal that Cap stood for carries on. With this in mind someone new dons the costume and persona of Captain America starting in January. With a new Cap’ comes a new costume designed by near legendary comic artist Alex Ross. There is a great deal of speculation about who may be taking on the mantle, I’m certainly curious read Ed Brubaker’s upcoming storyline.
If you want more detail on the hows and whys, the Marvel article on this is fantastic.

Superheroes Tonight on Robot Chicken
September 12, 2007 | 2 Comments
Above is the entirety of the episode: “Tapping a Hero” from Season 3 of Robot Chicken. The specific segment I’m hugely entertained by occurs at 7:35. Stan Lee and Pamela Anderson dish on many of the superheroes in “Superheroes Tonight”. Best of all is the section beginning: “After a long career as the Justice League’s most impotent failure, Aquaman finally has a new career…”
OK, if you hang around past the credits, you may find Stan’s explanation of the Watcher, the Punisher and the Shocker even better…
(and yes, Stan Lee did truly voice this himself)

Heroes Graphic Nover Hardcover
September 5, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Curious about some of the details that occur between scenes or episodes in NBCs hit series Heroes? This additional content was made available for free in a series of short digital comics available for free on the Heroes site (unfortunately not in CBR or CBZ).
Now, those digital comics are being delivered by DC and their Wildstorm label in a 240 page hardcover starting October 24th! Even better, it’s only $29.99. If you are on top of things, you can also order from Discount Comic Book Service, preorders go for $14.99 there! It’s on my pull list and I can’t wait.
This stunning hardcover collects the amazing online comics based on the smash-hit, Emmy Award-nominated NBC show HEROES! This volume — featuring two stunning covers by comics legends Jim Lee and Alex Ross — also includes an introduction by Masi Oka (Hiro), all 34 chapters of Season One, and Tim Sale’s artwork as seen on the show.
