Google Talk “Secret” Pending Features

Google Talk: File TransferDan pointed out a little hidden gem on the Google Talk site. If you go here, instead of here to view what is new with Google Talk, you’ll see three significant new features in the “Just Launched!” section.

First is a file transfer feature which will allow peer-to-peer transfer of any file type. Of the three this one is most exciting and the only thing I’ve missed since ditching AIM.

Next is voicemail that will allow you to leave a voice message with a buddy when they are away. For anyone using the phone-like features I’m sure this is exciting. Unfortunately, my laptop does not have a built-in mic, so it’s a hassle for me. (Why do I have a Dell and not a Mac?)

The final feature is purely a for fun type of thing, music status. This feature will allow you to show what music you are listening to in your byline. Kinda cool, but nothing I’m uber-excited about.

Oddly, this page does appear to be some sort of early prep page since none of these features are available in the downloadable version. Additionally, doing an upgrade on the one I have does not add these bells and whistles either… I’m sure we’ll see something in the next few days or so.
