Ik Ben

Once Buckeye, they considered being the Sal Nitz Group, but landed on Ik Ben. Finally their CDs are available online. While in Pittsburgh I worked with one of the Hylbert brothers, Scott. We saw them play on multiple occasions and there were a few songs from their set I found myself not wanting to live without.
I highly recommend “Guilty Pleasure” a song about a patron’s crush on a coffee shop girl. There is also a cool remake of “You are the One that I Want” from Grease. Two other must haves include “Kathleen” and “Gingerly”. Absent from these CDs is a song Scott gave me years ago on MP3 called “Amigo”. The soft southern style melody of this one has grown on me more than I would have ever expected.
There are samples on the website, go listen to them. They have a unique 50’s do-wop meets alt-rock country sound. I love it and I’m very satisfied to now have them in my collection.

I worked with this great guy out in Pittsburgh, Scott Hylbert, who also turns out to be a super-talented musician/songwriter. While we were living out there we got the opportunity to see him a pile of times, mostly at Club Cafe.
Scott has a alternative/rock/country sound. Currently his website is at MySpace. I’m trying to get him to post more music or put some up for sale somewhere.
