While watching an episode of the British version of The Office, Dawn and Keith are having a discussion about “bum bags” and he explains to her that in the states they are called fanny packs. He then explains this is because “fanny” in the states means your arse and not your “minge.”

At this point I needed to know what the heck “minge” was. Turns out “minge” is a synonym in Britain for vagina. On the site where I found that, they also list “minjer” as a term meaning “really ugly woman” also synonymous with “swamp donkey”.

I love it. I’ve never heard anyone be called a swamp donkey but that’s the funniest sounding insult I’ve heard in a long time.

As a side note, while Google image searching for swamp donkey, I turned up a label for Swamp Donkey Cider. If I follow the synonyms backwards, I’m truly frightened about the secret ingredient…

    Swamp donkey meaning an ugly woman? Never heard of that one. I have heard New Englanders use swamp donkey to refer what the rest of the country calls a “moose” though.

    No you idiot Justin. Just because it says England doesn’t mean they’re talking about New England. If you had a friken clue, you would know that there is life outside your hoe-bunk town and there are actually other countries around this big big world that you don’t know about. And one of them happens to be called England. Did you happen to think of that’s why they refer to us as “the States” meaning the United States. Hence the fact that they refer to word meanings in England, and what they mean in the States, or USA, and vice versa.

    I’m an artist , and i thought i just pulled the words ”Swamp Donkey” out of my ”Ass” pardon the punn , and had a vision of it for a drawing or painting destined for an album cover or something . i’d buy it !
