Superman Returns Poster
May 16, 2006
As a whole I’m having a hard time getting overly excited about Superman Returns. The trailers seemed unimpressive and I’m fairly confused about where in the Superman movie history it takes place. I know it’s not standalone, but I can’t remember is it between 2 and 3, or 3 and 4? Does the fact that it does occur in the old timeline mean we will not spend half the movie reviewing the origin of Superman? If that’s true I’m glad, because we’ve all heard it a ton of times, yet the trailer seems to show aspects of it, so I’m confused.
An additional concern for me is that I’m a big Marvel guy. Primarily I read and enjoy Marvel heroes and don’t associate well with DC heroes. Though, Batman Begins was a seriously rocking movie. I guess when it comes to movies, my lack of familiarity with the characters actually allows me to enjoy them more. For instance, I think Sin City and V For Vendetta are the two greatest comic book movies ever made. I didn’t read either of those comics until after seeing the movies… I also think Hellboy was awesome and I’ve yet to get to reading that series.
Getting back to the point, I think the poster is very cool. Out of the blue I find myself excited about this movie. I’m surprised about this, but glad. Marketing has won me over.

Got something to say?

You’re right, that poster is very cool! I don’t usually go in for comic book adaptations, but as you said, Batman Begins was excellent, and I liked the two Spiderman movies as well. I am planning on seeing this movie when it comes out, so I hope it’s worth it!
You really don’t even have to read the Sin City comics after seeing the movie, it’s literally a word-for-word panel-by-panel replication of the books.
Yeah, but there are more comics than what the movie covers. Although… after Sin City 2 comes out that might not be the case.
