Never Liked Wonder Woman Anyway…

// February 4th, 2007 // My Stuff

WonderWomanV5Joss Whedon is officially no longer writing the script for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie.

Joss’ statement about parting ways:

We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that’s never gonna work. Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don’t think any of us expected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk.

I have to say, I love Joss, but I’m not a DC comics fan and especially uninterested in Wonder Woman. Don’t get me wrong, I love the female protagonist hero, I just think Wonder Woman is nearly as lame as Aquaman. Again though… if it’s DC, I only really care about Batman, Green Lantern, The Question, and Superman in the right doses. Admittedly… I usually enjoy the Justice League in general, but the individuals are less interesting. Back on topic though, I don’t think it matters who writes this movie, it has a high likelihood of being terrible.

Thanks to Jenny for the heads up on this.

Why must you attack DC so? They clearly have better supervillains and their heroes are far superior in power and likeability. Need I mention Aquaman and Hawkman? Match up with those two Marvel.

  2. zbtirrell says:

Well… Namor destroys Aquaman in the power category, plus, his love interest has always been Sue Storm. Sue Storm is both an insanely powerful character and simultaneously smokin’ hot. Hell they chose Jessica Alba to play her in the movie!

Falcon is at least as cool as Hawkman, with a way sweeter super hero name. Lets not even push that one…

FInally, supervillains?!? Doom, Green Goblin, Venom, Ultron, Sandman, Doc Ock, Bullseye, Mandarin, Magneto, Juggernaut, etc. Need I actually rip out with flippin Galactus? Are you kidding me?

  3. Keith says:

Ok that is quite an impressive list however let me retort.

For superheroes we have the immortal Batman, as well as Superman, all the Green Lanterns, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Steel, Wonderwoman (who was quite smoking in her day), dare I even say Robin and Nightwing (yes I know they are one in the same).

As far as supervillians we have the Joker, Riddler, Two-Face, the Penguin, Catwoman, Lex Luthor…alright I know that most of the villains are from Batman…but still.

And you’re right there is no contest, Hawkman is a better name. And Aquaman could so whoop Namor.

And I didn’t even have to mention the Wondertwins and Ruff the crime fighting dog…but I don’t think I have to in order to prove my point.

  4. Keith says:

I didn’t even mention the Scarecrow, Manbat, Killer Croc, or the ever ominous Mad Hatter. Yes I know, again with all of the Batman villains but why wouldn’t the greatest crime fighter ever not have the greatest list of villains to subdue? We also have Doomsday, and Orion.

We also have the Teen Titans and JLA. Need I say more?

I will admit that Marvel does have a more expansive list that covers more series. And their integration (espcially with the Civil War series) is impressive however my loyalty will always be with DC.

And my allegiance will always be with the Orange and Green. I’ve even thought of petitioning our school to accept those as our school colors but I believe my cries would fall upon deaf ears.
