I am a communications major and am required to give speeches on a weekly basis. After seening Mr. Hardt's presentation, I was encouraged to make better use of my time and resources. Furthermore, the Identity 2.0 topic is engaging and considerate of the technological revolution happening all around us. I only hope that I can perform on his level in the professional world.

[...] Dick Hardt recently published a video of his newest presentation titled “Who is the Dick on your site?” This video is from his talk at ETech and was apparently the first time he gave it. Therefore, it lacked a lot of the polish of his previous talk on Identity 2.0. [...]

[...] Casey has been talking a lot about how identity is made up of reputation. We’ve had a lot of discussion about this and I’m still not entirely sure I buy into it in it’s entirely. We first started discussing this in these terms after watching Dick Hardt’s Identity 2.0 presentation. [...]

I think your analogy of this to a television commercial is pretty accurate. I think that is sort of the point. You watch the presentation and assuming you aren't real familiar with the subject matter, think, I need to know more about that. That was interesting.

Presentations often spend a lot of time getting into nitty gritty detail with tons of information. This is good, but the point is different than that of getting people interested or curious about something. Hardt definitely wants you to go learn more.

I highly recommend following the link above and reading some of Kim Cameron's work, or even the stuff out at PlaNetwork. That's where the meat is, this is just fantastic frosting.

[...] I said “identity management is the next big thingâ€? back in September. That was before I’d seen Sxip founder Dick Hardt’s presentation on Identity 2.0. Zach peeped me the link and told me I wouldn’t regret watching the presentation. He was right. Everybody, especially the people who don’t yet care about identity management, should take a look. [...]

While the presentation was innovative, it didn't really add anything to what he was saying. I finished it thinking "Wow, that bright man with ADD sure has a lot of clip-art he likes to show off". I'm glad he mentioned OpenID, which is the only thing other then Passport and .NET that I had heard of before seeing this. All and all, I found the presentation very informative, I just wish he had done something more informative and less-like a typical TV commercial with his slides.

Dick Hardt is my new hero. Holy balls what a good presentation (both on the subject matter and the presentation method).
